TIFF Chairman

The 21st Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) will be held from Oct. 18 – 26 at Roppongi Hills and Bunkamura (Shibuya) in Tokyo.

TIFF continues to strive to be a unique and quality film festival which is well recognized throughout the world. Film industries of Japan and the world would gather together with the film fans where they can participate and enjoy themselves.

Strengthening our ties to TIFFCOM and Japan International Contents Festival (CoFesta) both of which will be held at the same time, we hope to provide the opportunities to appeal Japan’s strong multi-contents to the world and aggressively open up business deployment possibilities internationally.

This year’s theme is “ecology,” stressing the importance of preserving the global environment. In order to best align with the theme, we will have “Green Carpet” in stead of the traditional red carpet, and add a new section which spotlights films that depict the co-existence of men and nature. A newly established award will recognize an outstanding film from any section that best showcases environment and ecology issues. There will be fun and easy to understand conferences and other events on environment and ecology where everybody can freely participate.

Please visit our official website for friendly and updated information.

Look forward to seeing you at TIFF in October in Tokyo at its best in autumn.
