History 6th Tokyo International Film Festival  Lineup

TIFF this year was marked by first-time entries from such countries as Burundi, Latvia, Armenia, Croatia, and Luxembourg in both "International Competition" and "Young Cinema" categories.

" 'OZU' Retrospective - 90th Anniversary of his birth" was a featured program for this festival. Screenings of carefully restored, pre- WWII silent films and lesser-known works of Ozu were presented. At the same time, the program commemorated the work of Chishu Ryu, a regular actor for many of Ozu's films, who died earlier in March

This year witnessed the death of Federico Fellini, who was the featured director at the 2nd TIFF.
