The 21st TIFF Opening Ceremony was held on Oct. 18, 2008 at the Roppongi Hills Screen 7. The venue was filled with stars and cineastes, which appeared at the Green Carpet Ceremony. The Chairman Tom Yoda announced the opening of the ceremony. The Prime Minister Taro Aso gave a congratulatory speech and following the introduction of the International Competition Juries, the team of the RED CLIFF Part I made their greetings and the TIFF’s Opening Film, RED CLIFF Part I was screened thus making it the climax of the day.
