Winds of Asia-Middle East Programming Director : Kenji Ishizaka

Under the motto of "Wider! Deeper!", "Winds of Asia-Middle East"
once again brings together comprehensive lineups this year, both in terms of quality and quantity.
In "Film Panorama of Asia-Middle East," the freshest new films of various genres are selected from
vast regions covering East Asia, South East Asia, South Asia and the Middle East. For a special
feature of a notable director, Rashid Masharawi, a world-class master from a Palestinian refugee camp,
has been chosen and all his feature films will be screened from his debut film Curfew thorough to his latest Laila’s Birthday.
"Discovering Asian Cinema," which turns a spotlight on Asian film history,
will zoom in on the Korean film wizard, Kim Ki-young, in response to passionate encores from the audience.
His "Goryeojang" stunned the audience at TIFF last year, and The Housemaid was screened at this year’s Cannes in his memory,
by recommendation of Martin Scorsesse. The global rating continues rising for his electrifying ‘Woman series,’
known as the life work of the genius, and we will delve deep into it. Be sure not to miss it!
