natural TIFF supported by TOYOTA

Every year, the Tokyo International Film Festival holds feature screenings along with
the sections that showcase new films, such as "Competition" and "Winds of Asia-Middle East".
The 2007 feature section, "Tokyo in Focus", which screened 50 postwar films set in Tokyo,
was very well received. The 21st Festival is introducing "natural TIFF",
which brings together films with themes related to the global environment and symbiosis with nature.
Around 10 new works which are now attracting world attention will be shown, as well as 20 masterpieces.
This section features works that make the audience ponder on the "symbiosis between nature and mankind",
in keeping with the "Ecology" theme of the 21st TIFF. The focus of the new works,
chosen from both drama and documentary categories, are extremely varied: they include
a waste problem in Naples, a documentary on adorable animals,
and the Antarctic diary of a prominent director.
