Japanese Eyes

Japanese Eyes Programming Director : Makoto Ozaki
Are Japanese films shining? Are they winning the hearts and minds of the audience?
The number of Japanese films produced has increased dramatically in the last few years,
as well, the number of films premiered could well outstrip that of foreign movies.
New talents and films with potential are emerging, yet the current status cannot claim to be bright
enough to dismiss the doubts posed by the questions at the beginning.
A series of discussions were held to make this year's selection.
On some films opinions of the selection members were completely split.
This made me wonder once again about 'directors talent = creativity' and 'film marketability = entertainment merit'.
We have selected 10 films of varied types, and I hope the audience will appreciate the passion of those who created them.
