Special Screenings Programming Director : Nobushige Toshima
This year's "Special Screenings" section has brought together a diverse group of films.
This is partly because we have intentionally selected films with an ecological awareness in
keeping with this year's theme, but also because we felt it is the responsibility of
"Special Screenings" to accept a wide variety of films, not just those that stand out.
Screenings of a spectrum of films, I believe, will lead to the broadening of the film festival.
Incidentally, I am quite pleased with the format where the festival opens spectacularly with "Red Cliff Part I",
then solemnly but touchingly closes with "WALL·E".
I hope you will enjoy this choice collection of films, including these two.
