Director's Angle
Outline:
These new must-see all-night events for movie fans feature talk shows and film screenings that highlight the work of three highly praised Japanese directors: Shunji Iwai, Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Yojiro Takita.
Each night will begin with "Conference" where the director will be on stage to talk about his works and directing techniques with guests associated with his film-making. This will be followed by screenings of films selected by the director himself, as well as one film selected by a fan ballot, to keep the audience awake until the morning.
This is a prime opportunity that movie fans will not want to miss, with three great directors: Shunji Iwai, whose works are also enormously popular in Korea and other Asian countries; Kiyoshi Kurosawa, who has many ardent supporters at European film festivals; and Yojiro Takita, whose film "OKURIBITO (Departures)" was recently awarded the Grand Prix des Americas at the Montreal World Film Festival...
Each night of "Director's Angle" is sure to be unique and fascinating. In particular, Shunji Iwai and Yojiro Takita are two directors well known for staying away from talk shows of any kind, so this will be a rare opportunity to hear them speak.
