What are the dates of the festival?
A
The festival runs for 9 days, from Saturday, October 18 through to Sunday, October 26, 2008.

Where is the venue?
A
Main venues are Roppongi Hills in Minato City and Bunkamura in Shibuya City, both in Tokyo. In addition to the main programs, a wide variety of projects jointly hosted by TIFF will take place throughout Tokyo.

What kind of films will be shown?
A

Approximately 300 films will be screened from the main 6 programs specified below as well as a wide variety of other projects.

The special screening featuring best films produced in countries and regions of the Asian Territory.

The screening focuses on the diversity of the Japanese cinema scenes by showing the most recent films from various perspectives.
5. WORLD CINEMA
The Japanese Premiere Screenings of European and North American films which received great appraisals from the worlds film festivals.
6. natural TIFF supported by TOYOTA
The TIFF's new section launched from the 21st edition which screens films that brings attention to the co-existence of men and nature.

Do the films screened at the festival have subtitles?
A
As a general rule, all the films will be shown with English or Japanese subtitles or both. In case of any changes, details will be updated on this website.

Are there any hotels around the festival venues?
A

What kind of transportation is available between the two venues?
A

How can I purchase the tickets?
A
Advanced tickets will go on sale on Saturday, October 4.

Purchasing tickets in Japan

Tickets can be purchased via the internet (Japanese text only), by telephone (Japanese only), at Ticket Pia and convenience stores (Family Mart and Circle K Sunkus). For more details, please click the tab of "Ticket" and refer to the page titled How to Purchase "Advanced tickets Sales."

Tickets purchasing outside Japan

Ticket can only be purchased in Japan. Please purchase the tickets at Ticket Pia after your arrival in Japan. Purchasing via the internet and by telephone is only available in Japanese. For more details, please click the tab of "Ticket" and refer to the page titled How to Purchas "Advanced tickets Sales."

How can I purchase the tickets at the door?
A
As a general rule, tickets will be available at the door in case the advanced tickets are sold out. Please ask each theater how to purchase tickets at the door.

Tickets for the films at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills

Tickets at the door will be available at 0:00 on the day of the screening at vit (ticket selling system in which purchasing and payment can be made online). The unsold tickets at vit can be purchased at the door from 10:00 AM at each theater. For more details, please click the tab of "Ticket" and refer to the page titled How to Purchase "Tickets at the Door."

Tickets for the films at Bunkamura

The tickets can be purchased at the theater from 10:00 AM. For more details, please click the tab of "Ticket" and refer to the page titled How to Purchas "Tickets at the Door."

How can I attend the festival as a press reporter?

Please click the tab "For Press" and complete accreditation for your press ID.

How can I run the film stills and photos during the festival?
A
Materials for the press will be provided via the internet. Please sign up forr Image.net.

Any dress code required for the press covering the events?
A
Formal attire (Dark Suits) are required for Opening Ceremony, Green Carpet Welcome and Closing Ceremony.
*No jeans will be allowed.

Do you have a press office for distributing the coverage?
A
Press center equipped with internet and fax is located on the 3rd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower. Access to Mori Tower can be found in the web page entitled "Roppongi Hills." To find the page, please pull down the tab "For Visitors".
